It is an exciting, funny and refreshingly different children’s book written by a real tall ship captain and a master storyteller. The Greatest Captain in the World combines the natural gift for words and rhyme of Johann Steinke, the brilliant and creative story telling of Joel Rudd, and the artful and professional illustrations of Andy Catling. For more than 300 years, we have shown God’s love through worship and special events like this one, giving you and your family a place to experience joy-filled energy and hope! Friday evening December 7 the celebrations continue with the Greater Wildwood Jaycees’ Christmas Parade. Registration begins at 5:00 p.m. at the North Wildwood Recreation Center (10th and Central Avenues). Lineup begins at 5:30 p.m. and the parade starts promptly at 6:30 p.m. with a new route and followed by a Tree Lighting Ceremony & Parade Awards at 7:30 p.m. at Byrne Plaza, Oak & Pacific Avenues, Wildwood, NJ. Turtles in a Live Turtle Nativity! Come feed one of 3 live turtles using a stick or a spoon, thereby giving a gift to Rocky the box turtle as Baby Jesus, Gracie the tortoise as the Virgin Mary, and Big Black Bart the tortoise as Joseph. Feel free to take pictures! Members of the church will welcome everyone in costume as villagers of Bethlehem and luminaries will light the way to the church. Young and old alike are invited to this year’s holiday extravaganza that begins on Fri., Dec. 7 from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Be sure to be on hand at 7 p.m. when Santa makes a special appearance to light the enormous Christmas tree on the front lawn followed by visits with Santa and holiday sweets. Throughout the evening visitors will be able to take an evening stroll through The Museum and see the magnificently decorated and lighted rooms and be taken back to the Christmases of long ago.

We will be hosting our annual Christmas Parade on December 7, 2018 at 6:00pm. The parade will lineup on Pacific Ave. (next to Memorial Field) and start traveling north on Route 9. On Friday, December 7, 2018, the Borough will be hosting its annual Christmastime parade, sponsored by the Woodbine Volunteer Fire Company. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. and line up will start at 5 p.m. along Bryant Street. On Friday, December 7, the Somers Point Holiday Parade is starts at 5:30 p.m. For the third year in a row, the Somers Point Community Education & Recreation (CER) Office will be hosting a float contest as part of the parade. The parade begins at Dawes Avenue and continues along Shore Road to City Hall, 1 W. New Jersey Ave., where a festive ceremony will take place and complimentary refreshments will be served, courtesy of Sturdy Savings Bank. Mayor Jack Glasser will serve as the parade’s Grand Marshal, and Volunteer Fire Companies 1 and 2 will escort Santa Claus to City Hall where children can meet him inside for pictures and treats. Light Show on the Lake (Thanksgiving thru Jan 6th)… Over 120 Christmas Trees made from over 50,000 Christmas lights, magically float on Lake Meone in the center of Historic Smithville. The moment darkness falls, an orchestrated show of lights and music is played out across the lake. The lights seem to dance and chase each other to the music all the while reflecting of the water’s surface. This show can be seen from either side of the village as well as the bridge.

The Magic Talking Christmas Tree…If you are having trouble locating Mrs. Claus, you can always ask the Magic Tree. You heard me right!! This beautifully decorated Christmas tree awakens to talk with you and your children about the upcoming holidays and, well, anything you might want.

Mark your calendars for the Lower Township Rotary Club’s annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. A host of floats, the Lower Cape May Regional Marching Band, community groups and brightly decorated fire trucks will step off from the starting point at Bayshore and Breakwater roads and head south on Bayshore Road to the ending point at Rosehill Parkway. The parade is celebrating 38 years of marching down Bayshore Road and is a chance for the community to come together in a fun and festive way. It is a continued goal for the Lower Township Rotary to grow the size of the parade and gain more community groups or businesses signed up to participate in what has become a long-standing valued tradition in Lower Township. There is no fee to sign up to be in the parade

Light Show on the Lake (Thanksgiving thru Jan 6th)… Over 120 Christmas Trees made from over 50,000 Christmas lights, magically float on Lake Meone in the center of Historic Smithville. The moment darkness falls, an orchestrated show of lights and music is played out across the lake. The lights seem to dance and chase each other to the music all the while reflecting of the water’s surface. This show can be seen from either side of the village as well as the bridge.

Mrs. Claus reading stories to the children… Many children get a little scared of Santa, this large robust man with a beard and red coat. Smithville decided to bring you the softer side of the family. Mrs. Claus is a simple elderly German woman with grey hair and a breathtaking, handmade red dress. She has taken a little time away from helping Santa to make her very own public appearance right here in Historic Smithville. We have transformed the antique arcade (#65 on the Walking Map) into a Christmas area fitting for Mrs. Claus. Between the hours of 1:30 and 4:30 every weekend in December she will sit and read stories to the children, take pictures and chat with you and your children about the upcoming holiday.

Light Show on the Lake (Thanksgiving thru Jan 6th)… Over 120 Christmas Trees made from over 50,000 Christmas lights, magically float on Lake Meone in the center of Historic Smithville. The moment darkness falls, an orchestrated show of lights and music is played out across the lake. The lights seem to dance and chase each other to the music all the while reflecting of the water’s surface. This show can be seen from either side of the village as well as the bridge.

Light Show on the Lake (Thanksgiving thru Jan 6th)… Over 120 Christmas Trees made from over 50,000 Christmas lights, magically float on Lake Meone in the center of Historic Smithville. The moment darkness falls, an orchestrated show of lights and music is played out across the lake. The lights seem to dance and chase each other to the music all the while reflecting of the water’s surface. This show can be seen from either side of the village as well as the bridge.

Mrs. Claus reading stories to the children… Many children get a little scared of Santa, this large robust man with a beard and red coat. Smithville decided to bring you the softer side of the family. Mrs. Claus is a simple elderly German woman with grey hair and a breathtaking, handmade red dress. She has taken a little time away from helping Santa to make her very own public appearance right here in Historic Smithville. We have transformed the antique arcade (#65 on the Walking Map) into a Christmas area fitting for Mrs. Claus. Between the hours of 1:30 and 4:30 every weekend in December she will sit and read stories to the children, take pictures and chat with you and your children about the upcoming holiday.

The Magic Talking Christmas Tree…If you are having trouble locating Mrs. Claus, you can always ask the Magic Tree. You heard me right!! Next to the Smithville Train Station an over sized Christmas tree is brought in from Santa’s private forest. This beautifully decorated Christmas tree awakens to talk with you and your children about the upcoming holidays and, well, anything you might want.
Right next to the Magic Talking Tree the Smithville Train has decorated it’s tracks for the Holiday’s. For $2.00 per person you take a 6 1/2 minute ride on the outskirts of Smithville on this fun, whimsical train. Both the train and carousel are open village hours weather permitting throughout the month of December.

Light Show on the Lake (Thanksgiving thru Jan 6th)… Over 120 Christmas Trees made from over 50,000 Christmas lights, magically float on Lake Meone in the center of Historic Smithville. The moment darkness falls, an orchestrated show of lights and music is played out across the lake. The lights seem to dance and chase each other to the music all the while reflecting of the water’s surface. This show can be seen from either side of the village as well as the bridge.

The Magic Talking Christmas Tree…If you are having trouble locating Mrs. Claus, you can always ask the Magic Tree. You heard me right!! Next to the Smithville Train Station an over sized Christmas tree is brought in from Santa’s private forest. This beautifully decorated Christmas tree awakens to talk with you and your children about the upcoming holidays and, well, anything you might want.
Right next to the Magic Talking Tree the Smithville Train has decorated it’s tracks for the Holiday’s. Mrs. Claus reading stories to the children… Many children get a little scared of Santa, this large robust man with a beard and red coat. Smithville decided to bring you the softer side of the family. Mrs. Claus is a simple elderly German woman with grey hair and a breathtaking, handmade red dress. She has taken a little time away from helping Santa to make her very own public appearance right here in Historic Smithville. We have transformed the antique arcade (#65 on the Walking Map) into a Christmas area fitting for Mrs. Claus. Between the hours of 1:30 and 4:30 every weekend in December she will sit and read stories to the children, take pictures and chat with you and your children about the upcoming holiday.

Next to the Smithville Train Station an over sized Christmas tree is brought in from Santa’s private forest. This beautifully decorated Christmas tree awakens to talk with you and your children about the upcoming holidays and, well, anything you might want.
Right next to the Magic Talking Tree the Smithville Train has decorated it’s tracks for the Holiday’s. For $2.00 per person you take a 6 1/2 minute ride on the outskirts of Smithville on this fun, whimsical train. Light Show on the Lake (Thanksgiving thru Jan 6th)… Over 120 Christmas Trees made from over 50,000 Christmas lights, magically float on Lake Meone in the center of Historic Smithville. The moment darkness falls, an orchestrated show of lights and music is played out across the lake. The lights seem to dance and chase each other to the music all the while reflecting of the water’s surface. This show can be seen from either side of the village as well as the bridge.

Mrs. Claus reading stories to the children… Many children get a little scared of Santa, this large robust man with a beard and red coat. Smithville decided to bring you the softer side of the family. Mrs. Claus is a simple elderly German woman with grey hair and a breathtaking, handmade red dress. She has taken a little time away from helping Santa to make her very own public appearance right here in Historic Smithville. We have transformed the antique arcade (#65 on the Walking Map) into a Christmas area fitting for Mrs. Claus. Between the hours of 1:30 and 4:30 every weekend in December she will sit and read stories to the children, take pictures and chat with you and your children about the upcoming holiday.

We offer private tours M-F (except July – private tours M-W) for $20/group (up to 4 people) and $5 for each additional person.
